Homeless is a story of the younger generation of Nigerians whose dreams revolve around leaving the country in order to become successful. We have unfortunately been convinced that there is no success for us here, so we go to school and work so that we may be able to get visas to where the grass is greener, or at least that’s what it seems like to most of us. The corruption of the leaders, the unbearable living conditions and even the police seem to be tailored towards breaking us down, these have convinced us that the only way to live and enjoy life is by leaving our homeland.
But the thing is, there can never be a place like home and for those of us who successfully leave the country, “japa” we call it… there will always be the longing to return, we would always miss home.
So there we are, aliens in a foreign land. A land which is by no means ours, too far away from home to return and too mentally distant from the diaspora to make it our home - Ivhu is excited to introduce young and emerging talent to our platform, the series Homeless by Amaefule explores the issue of brain drain that continues to plague many of our native homes.
