"Our culture is a shield
Protecting us from
The seen and the unseen.
Our culture is a horn
Carrying our divine given domain.
Our culture is a bond
Binding my tribe to vour tribe."
"Tribal Art" is a depiction of Harry’s interpretation of culture as a shield, a horn, and a bond. The use of vivid imagery and metaphors conveys the significance of culture in our tribal communities.
The artwork portrays culture as a shield, symbolizing its protective nature. It represents how culture acts as a safeguard, shielding the tribe from both the seen and the unseen challenges and influences that may arise from the external world. The shield represents the cultural practices, traditions, and values that provide a sense of security and resilience to the tribe.
The artwork also depicts culture as a horn, symbolizing its role in carrying the divine given domain of the tribe. The horn is a representation of power, authority, and spiritual connection. It signifies how culture serves as a vessel that carries the tribe's beliefs, wisdom, and heritage, which are seen as divine gifts that are passed down through generations.
Furthermore, the artwork portrays culture as a bond that binds the artist's tribe to other tribes. It symbolizes the interconnectedness and unity among different tribes, and how culture serves as a unifying force that transcends boundaries and fosters a sense of community and belongingness. It represents the social cohesion and mutual respect that exists among tribes, highlighting the importance of cultural bonds in creating harmony and cooperation.
Overall, the artwork conveys a deep appreciation and reverence for culture as a protective shield, a powerful horn, and a unifying bond that plays a crucial role in the artist's tribal community, providing a sense of identity, strength, and interconnectedness.

Ivhu Art @ Home
Thank you so much for connecting with us on this journey. Ivhu began after really struggling to find positive and contemporary artwork of black culture for our family home. There are so many outlets for artists out there, but many fail in having a diverse and representative collection of pieces that reflect the full beauty of the human lifecycle.
We didn't want some out of touch painting of our 'culture', but wanted art that spoke to our here and now and we are so excited to share our journey with you.
When thinking about interior design for your living space, I'm really challenging you to choose Art that truly resonates with you.
